Friday Linkdump is busy eating and sleeping

Today has turned out to be a "tend to my biological imperatives" day. It's pretty much rest and ingest and not much else. As inconvenient as that is in terms of getting certain things done, I'm not unappreciative. With the exception of Wednesday (which I have off), next week is the first of three very high intensity weeks.

Which is to say, rest and ingest is probably the way to go.

You guys. This is awesome.

In which we are reminded that even the most sincere faith and good intentions don't hold a candle to adequate training. Like, say, a degree in social work.

- What Does Obama Read? (Or: a lesson in why getting your news and political opinions from e-mail forwards is dumb.)
The About.com writer did a pretty good job of explaining why the president reading this book is probably a Very Good Thing Indeed, but as we get into the thick of this year's election, I am already dreading the crap that will be landing in my mother's inbox.

Note that the headline says "openly." 14 out of 12,000 is about a tenth of one percent. Statistically, the number of actual LGBTQ athletes could easily be ten times this, probably many times more.

- Lobster fishermen finding more odd colors — blue, orange, white — in the catch
If you never thought lobster could be pretty, think again. Of course, we don't know for sure why we're seeing more day-glo lobsters -- more fishing? less predation? environmental factors? -- but it's interesting nonetheless.
