Calling on the Internet Brain Trust
So a few years ago, I found this. It's half a post card, torn in half, and covered in clear packing tape.
Also, it's beautiful. I'm very fond of it. But I've never figured out who the artist is, or seen the rest of the painting. I realize the risks in solving a mystery, but I'm willing to jump into the abyss on this one finally.
So! What say you, Internet brain trust? Anyone out there have any ideas?
Mystery solved! It's John Duncan's Study for Saint Bride. Considering that my flame tending shift is tonight, consider me completely delighted by this bit of synchronicity.
Addendum: If anyone's curious, the figure in this painting isn't meant to be Saint Bride, but one of the angels said to have carried her to witness the Nativity. It's a study, which would have been part of the preparation for the complete painting.
Addendum to the addendum: Here. Have another source about the final painting. Thanks, Internet Brain Trust!

Here is a page with some actual text, and I think the final version that was a study for, but that's plenty of info to google by.
