And then there were Ten

Tonight I introduced my mother to the Tenth Doctor.

We've been doing an episode a week sort of, though there have been gaps for illness or being busy or other things. Last week, though was the end of S1. This week was The Christmas Invasion.

Now, prior to this, the last episode I'd seen was "The Waters of Mars," so I'm feeling kind of emotional hearing him talking about being new, and all the things he's going to see, and watching him and Harriet Jones. Those first mentions of Torchwood. It's like the ultimate in dramatic irony.

Fuck, people. It's like watching Othello.

And yet, I was so excited to point things out to my mom. "That belonged to the Fourth Doctor! That belonged to Six! That woman in the preview was a companion with Three and Four!" It's mom's first regeneration, and she didn't know what the Cybermen were in the promo, and...and...

Considering that we dropped by the pharmacy on the way in, and the fact that I let mom see me without my binder on so she could scratch my back, I have to laugh. If ever there was a moment I understood both reasons I got the Seal of Rassilon tattooed on my calf, tonight is it.

Maybe I'll wear the suit on Christmas.
