Day of the Car (and other things as well)
Mar. 6th, 2010 09:28 pmI feel like today has been Eaten By Car.
For those of you just joining us, I've been a pedestrian since July. The short version is that my property tax situation got hilarious because some things got lost in the mail, and there was no way I could actually get things up to speed without effectively garaging my vehicle. This turned out to be a really good thing -- I've discovered that I really like not-driving during the week -- but I do actually really need to re-license my vehicle so my mother can have access to a more reliable vehicle, and so I can have slightly more unfettered access in the evenings/weekends.
Well, taxes are paid now and I've got it insured again. Today I cleaned out the last of the stuff I hadn't already cleared out of it, put some gas in, and replaced the battery. It runs! All that's left is to have a state inspection and to actually pay for tags, and if I'm lucky, I can get in for an inspection first thing in the morning so can see to tags on Monday afternoon.
I'm faintly terrified that I won't be able to afford to get this sorted. It needs to be, though, and I will power though.
Some cool things:
- Popular Science has scanned their entire archive and put it online. I will never need a time-waster again.
- Xbox Live has revised its Code of Conduct regarding sharing certain kinds of information, including sexual orientation.
- I really want to read this book. (*shakes fist at kel*)
