Oh, Monday.

Actually, it's not altogether terrible, but my stress/anxiety level is unusually high. I put this down to still being a little bit off-kilter from last week. I want to roll my eyes at myself, but when I look at just how much happened in one seven day period, it suddenly feels quite rational that I'm still coming down a little.

Various things:
- I've got a working draft of the essay I want to submit to the NYT's Modern Love column, though I need to a) do a revision based on my first reader's recommended changes and b) run it by the relevant parties. Well, party. It's the sort of thing I wouldn't usually write so soon after the fact, but a personal essay about the surreal experience of severing ties over the 2010 Census has an expiration date in terms of publication, and I'm apparently going to be David Sedaris when I grow up.

- Holy crap, health care reform. Here's what looks like a good general round-up of good/bad/ugly in the bill itself, though The Advocate is reporting a general lack of LGBT provisions in it, which doesn't surprise me, but it also doesn't encourage me much, either. Still, progress.

- There's a guy about ten yards behind me talking about Limbaugh's "if this health care bill passes" thing, and how he is feeling very "HELL YEAH!" about whatever it is that Fox is going to tell him to do. This scares me, especially considering the nature and anger of protesters in the Capitol this weekend.

- James Randi has come out. He'll probably be pleased to know that he doesn't cause hurricanes or tornadoes.

- From [livejournal.com profile] blackletter, a silent invasion of immortal jellyfish.

- From [livejournal.com profile] redstapler, the Jim Henson Character Breakdown.

- Yes, I watched Desperate Housewives last night. I'm not properly ashamed, though, mostly because I spent the whole time critiquing it. Well, except for the bit with John Barrowman and the scarf. That made the whole thing worthwhile.

- Watched the first half of Hetalia: Axis Powers with [livejournal.com profile] bluejeanius and [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge on Sunday thanks to the power of the Internet. I haven't laughed so goddamn hard in ages. I need a brown bomber jacket. And a hamburger. CHINA, I CHOOSE YOU!
