Still Not King
Jun. 18th, 2011 09:33 pmToday has been big on ups and downs.
The ups have been good: getting back on the horse with a lapsed project, discovering that the vegetarian options at Five Guys are freaking rad, building something which is definitely Not A Henge, etc. The downs...well, getting a call from the vet at 9:30 AM because Ezio hadn't made it through the night was rough, my camera took a swan dive off a shelf and no longer works, and my skin is dead set on finding new and exciting places to have eczema.
So, you know, a Saturday.
Here. Have some links:
- Tempest is participating in the 2011 Clarion Write-a-Thon. You should pledge. I've never participated in any of the Clarion workshops -- 6 weeks is longer than I can easily be away -- but the people I know who have participated speak highly of them. Your pledge helps new talent thrive.
- I can't stop looking at this.
- Historical emoticon? Typo? Archaic syntax? This whole thing delights me.
- Apparently, Benedict Cumberbatch is also getting his Hobbit on. I suppose they couldn't film any more Sherlock with Martin Freeman off being Bilbo Baggins, so why not get some Cumberbatch in on the whole Tolkienian enterprise, right? I love that he's doing motion capture for Smaug. I mean, I had no idea the man was secretly a dragon...
- An interesting article from Stars and Stripes critiquing the government's response to Wikileaks, particularly the insistence that citizens and members of the armed forces simply pretend it doesn't exist, and the negative effects of such a ridiculous policy.
