Friday Linkdump escapes mostly unscathed

- Rebuild the Joplin mosque
As some of you might be aware, a mosque in Joplin, MO was burned to the ground, just one month after a July 4th arson attempt. The Islamic Society of Joplin is raising funds to rebuild. While they've met their goal, more funds means a better, safer, more accessible center.
- New gay general: A salute is in order
Army Brigadier General Tammy Smith earned her first star, which is awesome on its own, but it's doubly significant because General Smith is also the nation’s first openly gay flag-ranking military officer. Take that, DADT.
