Is this the Birth of a Nation?
(Warning for potentially triggery historical image of Klansmen assaulting a black man)
An interesting article about this week's Tea Party movement response to the health care reform push and vote, and how the media is getting it wrong. The author submits that race and civil rights, while part of the issue, aren't the real issue. Sedition is.
An open letter to conservatives
While I suspect the author of this will ultimately be preaching to the choir, this is the most comprehensive, point-by-point (with sources) breakdown of what's gone wrong with the Republican party I have ever seen.
A question of consent
(Warning for rape triggers.)
An article that ran last week in a local paper that posits that one of the factors in the astonishingly low conviction rate in rape cases may be a semantic one. It goes on from there to cover many other factors, but the idea that perps (esp. in date and acquaintance rape cases) still aren't getting the message about consent troubles me immensely. I hope this article opens some eyes.
