Gratitude, er, Friday.

Sorry for missing Wednesday and Thursday. The last couple of days are kind of a blur, what with developments with the mom thing. For those interested, she may be coming home today in her new cyborg guise (hooray for pacemakers). This in turn will trigger a significant bout of postponed cooking, which excites my taste buds more than a little.
Right now, though, I am holed up at a house that belongs to two of my favorite people on earth. What was a couple of weeks ago an easily agreed-to overnight house and dog sitting thing is now a refuge, a fabulous 16-20 hour fortress of solitude in which I've mainly made soup, read books, and chased a pair of adorable, fluffy dogs around.
(Oh, and I've discovered the wonderful world of Fruit Ninja Kinect. Sweet mother of pearl, I love technology.)
Over the last couple of days, I've had all of the right folks nudging me, checking if I need food or respite, offering resources and advice. My roommate has been instrumental in keeping the house together. While I probably could get through without that help if I had no choice at all, it would be a hell of a lot harder, and mean a much longer recovery for me in terms of energy and emotional fall-out.
In lieu of a more conventionally-sized family with grandparents, siblings, in-laws, and cousins, I have these folks. They forgive me when I vanish, they offer hospitality, they remind me of my obligations, they take me on adventures, and I hate imagining life without them.
Thanks, you guys. You're amazing.
